The official page asks for: a business plan and a financing plan, proof of qualifications for the activity, business permit approval in principle, if needed, a criminal record extract under 3 months old, a CV and travel health insurance for the visa period.
How much money do I need for the Luxembourg freelance visa?
No set figure. You must show enough resources to carry out the planned activity in Luxembourg. Proof of the money needed to set up or buy the business, such as a bank statement or a detailed financial portfolio. No set figure.
How long can I stay on the Luxembourg freelance visa?
The guichet.lu pages read today do not state how long the first permit lasts. Yes. Ask the General Department of Immigration at least 2 months before the permit ends, online or by post.
How much does the Luxembourg freelance visa cost?
EUR 80 to issue the residence permit. A business permit application costs EUR 24 if one is needed. The visa fee is not on these pages.
Who can apply for the Luxembourg freelance visa?
Open to people from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. For non-EU citizens living abroad who want to live in Luxembourg and work there as a self-employed person. The activity must serve Luxembourg's economic, social or cultural interests and need you there to run it day to day. Citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland can already live in Luxembourg without this visa.
How do I apply?
Before you travel, apply for a long-stay visa (visa D) at a Luxembourg embassy or consulate, or a Belgian one where Luxembourg has none. After you arrive, declare your arrival at the commune, have a medical check and apply for the permit. In principle you get an answer within 3 months at most. No answer in that time counts as a refusal.
