How much income do I need for the Mauritius retirement visa?
You must send at least USD 2,000 a month, or USD 24,000 a year, to a bank in Mauritius. The first USD 2,000 must arrive within 60 days of getting the permit. A bank statement from your home country or country of residence showing at least USD 24,000.
Is there an age limit for the Mauritius retirement visa?
You must be 50 or older.
What do I need for the Mauritius retirement visa?
The official page asks for: birth certificate, police clearance covering the last 10 years, medical certificate and reports, signed undertaking to transfer funds, signed charter for foreign residents and passport and photos.
Do I need health insurance?
The official guidelines ask for a medical certificate but do not mention health insurance.
Can I work on the Mauritius retirement visa?
You may not take paid work, but you may invest in a business if you are not employed by it. To work in certain sectors you must get a work permit or an Occupation Permit.
How long do I need to spend in Mauritius?
The official guidelines do not give a minimum stay.
Does the Mauritius retirement visa lead to permanent residence?
After 5 years on this permit, you can apply for a 20-year Permanent Residence Permit if you sent at least USD 200,000 to Mauritius over those 5 years.
How long does the Mauritius retirement visa last?
The permit lasts up to 10 years. Yes, for another 10 years.
How much does the Mauritius retirement visa cost?
USD 1,000 for the 10-year permit, paid after approval in principle. There is also a USD 50 application fee that is not refunded. Each dependant's permit costs USD 400.
Who can apply for the Mauritius retirement visa?
Open to citizens of any other country. People aged 50 or older who are not Mauritian citizens and want to retire in Mauritius.
Can I bring my family?
A spouse, parents and unmarried children who do not work can get residence permits for the same length of time as you.
How do I apply?
Online on the National E-Licensing System of the Economic Development Board (EDB). After approval in principle you go to an appointment in Mauritius to collect the permit.
