At least NZD 60,000 a year. It can come from a pension, rent, dividends, interest or company profits, and can be earned by you alone or together with your partner. NZD 750,000 to invest in acceptable investments in New Zealand and keep there for 2 years, plus NZD 500,000 more to live on. Both are needed on top of your yearly income.
Is there an age limit for the New Zealand retirement visa?
You must be 66 or older.
What do I need for the New Zealand retirement visa?
The official page asks for: proof of the NZD 750,000 to invest and where it came from, proof of NZD 500,000 to live on, proof of your yearly income, such as a pension, police certificates, chest X-ray or medical exam if asked and travel or health insurance.
Do I need health insurance?
You must keep acceptable travel or health insurance while you are in New Zealand. You must also be in good health.
Can I work on the New Zealand retirement visa?
You cannot work for a New Zealand employer on this visa, but you may be able to work remotely for an employer or client based outside New Zealand.

The official page does not give a minimum stay. You can travel in and out of New Zealand during the 2 years.

This is a visitor visa. The official page gives no path to permanent residence from it. To stay longer you apply for another one.

The visa lets you stay in New Zealand for 2 years. You can apply for another one if you still meet the rules and kept your insurance and investment for the 2 years.

Can I bring my family?
Your partner can be included in your application if they meet the same rules. You cannot bring dependent children on this visa.

On a paper application form sent to Immigration New Zealand. 80% of applications are decided within 4.5 weeks.
