What income do I need for the Costa Rica digital nomad visa?
At least USD 3,000 a month from abroad, shown for the last year. USD 4,000 a month if the family is included.
How long can I stay on the Costa Rica digital nomad visa?
One year. Can be extended once for one more year. The person must have stayed in Costa Rica at least 180 days in the first year.
How much does the Costa Rica digital nomad visa cost?
USD 100 when applying and USD 90 for the migration document. Other amounts are set in the approval letter, plus a guarantee deposit.
Who can apply for the Costa Rica digital nomad visa?
Open to citizens of any other country. People who do paid remote work or services for a person or company outside Costa Rica and are paid from abroad. Law 10008 gives them a non-resident stay. Holders cannot take paid work or services in Costa Rica other than what the stay allows.
Can I bring my family?
Spouse or partner, children under 25, children of any age with a disability, and older adults who live with the holder can be included.

How do I apply?
Online on the Tramite Ya platform, or in person at the immigration service desk or a regional office. The immigration office has 15 calendar days from filing to decide in writing.
