What income do I need for the Malta digital nomad visa?
At least EUR 42,000 a year, gross. People who applied before 1 April 2024 keep the old minimum of EUR 32,400.
How long can I stay on the Malta digital nomad visa?
Valid for 1 year from the date the residence card is issued. Can be renewed three times, for a total of up to 4 years, at the agency's discretion. For renewal you must show you lived in Malta for at least 5 months of the last 12.
How much does the Malta digital nomad visa cost?
EUR 300 per person, not refundable, for the application. EUR 100 per person for the residence card. Any visa fees are extra.
Who can apply for the Malta digital nomad visa?
Open to people from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. People aged 18 or over from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland who work remotely for an employer, a company they co-own, or clients that are based outside Malta. Citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland can already live in Malta without this visa.
Can I bring my family?
Your spouse, your minor children, and adult children who are unmarried and depend on you can be included. Adult children who cannot cope alone for medical reasons can also be included.
Can I work for companies in Malta?
You and your dependants cannot work for, or give services to, companies or people based in Malta.
How do I apply?
Online through the Residency Malta Agency application system. After approval you come to Malta to give biometrics and collect the residence card. Processing is expected to take 30 working days from the date the fee payment is received. This does not include visa processing time.
