What do I need for the Malta student visa?
The official page asks for: acceptance letter from an MFHEA-licensed institution, proof of tuition fees paid, health insurance with at least EUR 100,000 cover, registered lease or school housing letter, health screening clearance and passport valid for at least 6 months, as well as the money to live on.
How much money do I need for the Malta student visa?
At least 60% of the national equivalised income threshold set by the NSO, for the year or pro rata for a shorter course. Bank statements must cover the last 3 months.
Do I need to pay tuition before I apply?
Show that you have paid the tuition fees, at least for the first semester or year.
Can I work while I study in Malta?
Up to 20 hours a week across all jobs. An employer must first get an employment licence from Jobsplus for you.
Can I stay in Malta after I graduate?
Graduates of MQF Level 5 or higher courses can stay up to 9 months to look for a job or start a business. It is given once and cannot be extended.
How long can I stay on the Malta student visa?
Up to one year, or the length of the course if that is shorter. Yes, each year while you keep studying and making progress.
How much does the Malta student visa cost?
EUR 50 for a study residence permit application. The official pages give no visa fee.
Who can apply for the Malta student visa?
Open to people from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. People from outside the EU who have a place on a full-time course at MQF Level 5 or higher with a licensed institution in Malta.
How do I apply?
Visa nationals first get a national (D) visa through a Maltese mission or external service provider. The permit is applied for online in Malta on the Identità Expatriates Portal. Identità says a decision typically takes a few weeks.
