What do I need for the Norway student visa?
The official page asks for: admission as a full-time student, proof of housing and proof of funds, as well as the money to live on.
How much money do I need for the Norway student visa?
You must show you can support yourself. The estimate is at least NOK 15,488 a month or NOK 170,368 a year (2026-2027). UDI sets the exact rules for each nationality.
Can I work while I study in Norway?
You get permission to work part time up to 20 hours a week and full time in the normal holidays. Full-time work can also be allowed for a set period when the work is part of your studies.
Can I stay in Norway after I graduate?
If you are a skilled worker and still hold a study permit when you apply, you can get a permit for up to one year in total to look for work.
How long can I stay on the Norway student visa?
No official page that could be read states how long the first permit lasts.
How much does the Norway student visa cost?
The fee for a student permit is NOK 5,400. Children under 18 pay half.
Who can apply for the Norway student visa?
Open to people from outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland. People from outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland, including UK citizens, who are admitted as full-time students at a Norwegian institution and stay three months or longer.
