What do I need for the Thailand student visa?
The official page asks for: letter confirming enrolment from the school or university, supporting letter from the university to the embassy, ministry of Education letter (schools and short courses), passport valid for 6 months, recent photo and proof of where the applicant lives now, as well as the money to live on.
How much money do I need for the Thailand student visa?
Washington embassy: bank statements for the last three months, each month ending with at least USD 4,000 (USD 1,000 for a short Thai or English course). Other embassies differ, for example Budapest asks for THB 20,000 per person over six months of statements.
Can I work while I study in Thailand?
The official pages do not say whether ED visa holders may work.
Can I stay in Thailand after I graduate?
ED Plus holders can stay 1 year after graduating to look for work, travel or do other things, and can change visa type in Thailand if employed. In force since 15 July 2024.
Can I get a Thailand student visa for a language course?
Yes. A short Thai or English language course can lead to an ED visa, with a lower bank balance (USD 1,000 in Washington).
How long can I stay on the Thailand student visa?
The visa is valid for 90 days. Longer stays are extended by the Immigration Bureau in Thailand. Yes. The Immigration Bureau in Thailand extends the stay. For ED Plus the university applies for the extension for the student.
How much does the Thailand student visa cost?
Set by each embassy in local money and not refundable, for example EUR 70 at the Budapest embassy.
Who can apply for the Thailand student visa?
Open to citizens of any other country. Foreign nationals coming to Thailand to study. ED Plus is for students enrolled full time in a bachelor's degree or higher at a Thai higher education institution.
How do I apply?
Online at thaievisa.go.th, to the Thai embassy or consulate for the place where the applicant lives. No official time given. The Washington embassy asks for applications at least 30 working days before travel.
